Custom Twitter feeds for your website

Posted by Libby Fisher on Thursday, April 28th, 2011 in Random, Useful Scripts and Codes, Web Design

Here are some prestyled custom Twitter feeds that I designed and that you can use and edit as you want to for your website.

Click an image below to view that particular style Twitter feed (each page is a live stream of my Tweets). Then simply view the source of each page and copy and edit the styles to fit your website!

Make sure to read my previous article for instructions on how to create your own custom Twitter feed which will give you all the codes you need. (Note: it’s a lot simpler than you might think! 🙂 )

Note: If you want to remove the time stamp from the tweets in your custom Twitter feed, please check out my post on –

UPDATE: You can also find the codes and instructions on how to create a Twitter feed of the search results for a certain term at

    Hi Libby Fisher,
This is really very good and informative article. The article is really very helpful for the neophytes. Thanks.

  2. suzyQ says:

it doesn’t work what am I don wrong? Did everyting you described. Nothing happens

    • Libby Fisher says:

      Hi SuzyQ,

Can you either send me a link to the page you are working on or the code of that page? You can post it here or you can email it to I helped one other reader with a similar problem and I think the issue there was that some of the characters were formatted funny when the codes were copied and pasted.

Anyways, I would be happy to help, I just need to see the codes you are using!

  3. Libby Fisher says:

For future readers, the reason this Twitter feed was not working in SuzyQ’s page was that the javascript was put in front of the opening body tag – < body > – rather than in front of the closing body tag – < /body >. Simply moving the Javascript to the right spot in the html corrected the problem and the feed is working now.

Very handy, Libby, thanks! I’d like to create a feed for a custom Twitter search. I’m using
Which gets the returns I’m looking for. I just can’t get it to work with what you’ve provided. Thoughts?

  5. Kasim says:

    Hi Libby

This is a very handy piece of code however i’ve noticed a problem with the code. The feed is fine at displaying tweets from the specified account but it cannot display a retweet from another twitter user.

Perhaps there is a fix for this? I’ve been searching for a non-wordpress twitter feed for a while without any luck. The Twitter widget is very restrictive as I want a 2 column twitter feed and I am able to achieve this with your code.

    • Libby Fisher says:

      Hi Kasim,

I have noticed that quirk too and have been looking into solutions for this. I will be sure to let you know if and when I do figure out a way!

Here is an article I found that has some useful information about displaying retweets in a twitter list –

Thanks for commenting! I’ll let you know if I figure anything out, and please let me know if you beat me to it! 🙂

  6. Greg says:

Hi, thanks for the great tip.

May I ask, how can you edit the code to follow a “list” instead of a profile?

I am not a programmer but can follow directions.

Thank you for your kind reply.

  7. Greg says:

Apparently I don’t follow directions that well as I didn’t see the link to contact for programming help. 🙂

    My apologies!

  8. wanyach says:

You are amazing! I scoured the internet to find something simple to use in conjunction with a website builder. And this was the golden ticket! Thank you so much. I only have one question, no matter how I try, I can’t figure out how to change the color of the tweet text. Only the links change color. Is there any way you know of to do this? Thank you 😀

    • Libby Fisher says:

Yes, I can definitely help with that! Please just send me a link to the pag you are working on and I will take a look. Thanks!

  9. Gary Jones says:

Hi, I’ve used your code (which was awesome by the way) to create myself a twitter feed, I’ve edited this quite a lot in order to make this bespoke to the design, however for some reason the twitter feed will only show tweets from 1 day old or less. Any idea why?

  10. Faizan Khan says:

    Thanks for the code !

How can I add follow and retweet buttons in this code ?

I am not good in coding.
